A Proper Education for Girls

I bought a couple of the books from the course reading list and last night started Elaine Di Rollo’s \’A Proper Education for Girls\‘.  I always read the back cover synopsis of books and I find it interesting when four or five pages in, the story is completely out of sorts with the picture I had constructed and,  if I am being honest, now expect.  This is one such book, although I am enjoying it.  I love the premise of Mr Talbot, a bunch of aunts,  his two daughters and a series of strange young men come to catalogue and study the Collection and who may or may not still be living in the house somewhere.  Interestingly the book was originally published under the title ‘The Peachgrowers Almanac’.
