Salad and Sherry

Having enjoyed a comely salad of butter beans, walnuts, red onions, courgettes, sultanas and wheat free soy sauce, I was perturbed to turn around and find myself confronted with the particular (and possibly unprecedented) problem  of a head on collision involving  a suede bag, feta cheese and a stolen sachet of sugar from Starbucks. Having dealt with the situation admirably I was delighted to find Santa’s secret stash of Christmas sherry under my bed. Oh what a frenzy, oh what a crowd

Quite simply, it doesn’t happen often enough. In fact it has never happened; last night was a first. A friend invited me to the opera. Usually I have to go alone. It’s been a while since I have been to the opera, The Marriage of Figaro was I think the last one. Last night we saw Scottish Opera’s superb production of The Barber of Seville, my first Rossini opera and the first time I didn’t buy a program, relying wholly on the electronic translations above the stage .
